'No better way to start the season', says United striker.
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is relishing the challenge of facing neighbours Manchester City at Wembley again.
The England striker scored the winner in the league last season at Old Trafford, with a magnificent overhead kick and will be hoping to be on the winning side again.
He told FourFourTwo magazine: "It's a great way to start pre-season training, knowing that at the end of the hard work, before the games begin, there's a Manchester derby.
"You couldn't get better motivation to start the season with a bang."
The last time the two Manchester clubs met at Wembley, Rooney missed out due to suspension. Yaya Toure scored the only goal of the game to knock United out of The FA Cup and set City on their way for their first major trophy in 35 years. However, Rooney looks set to start on Sunday and would not want to begin the season in any other way.
He added: "Playing City in The Community Shield is the best way to start.
"I hadn't even thought about it until I turned on the telly the other night and someone was talking about potentially the best Community Shield ever."
