Ancelotti excited by new season

The Chelsea manager prepares for his first outing at Wembley

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking forward to Sunday’s FA Community Shield meeting with Manchester United and is excited by the new season with his new club.

The former AC Milan boss took charge at Stamford Bridge this summer and is happy with how The FA Cup holders have performed during their pre-season campaign.

He now has his sights set on leading the Blues to glory in the Premier League and in Europe, and hopes that the encounter with Sir Alex Ferguson’s Champions at Wembley will help spur them on to overhaul United.

“In England it is not easy, there are great teams and it’s a very difficult championship to win,” he said. “But Chelsea can win the Premier League and the Champions League. In all the competitions, we have to do the maximum to win.

“The team were very close last year and I think that we only have to make little steps to win. It will not be easy, but with great teamwork we can win.”

He continued: “The FA Community Shield is the first trophy of the English season, the first competitive game, so of course this is an important match for us. It is also important for me personally, because it will be the start of my first season in England, and it is against the champions.

“Overall, I have been pleased with my start at Chelsea, with the players, with the training ground and with everyone I am working with. I found a very good team here and all the staff have helped me to enter into this club.”

Ancelotti added: “I am excited to start at Chelsea with such a big occasion.”
