Barcelona and Liverpool to meet at Wembley in August

Wembley Stadium will host two of the most iconic clubs in world football when Barcelona and Liverpool meet under the arch on Saturday 6 August.

The two teams will take part in the International Champions Cup, an annual pre-season friendly tournament.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 3 June, starting at £26 for adults and £15 for juniors.

Former Reds midfielder, and club ambassador, Gary McAllister said: “What an incredible game to round off such a high profile tournament and all set under the iconic Wembley arch.

“I’m sure this game will be a great spectacle for Reds fans and football fans in general – I can’t wait.”

Liverpool and Barcelona are no strangers to Wembley. The Reds have contested FA Cup and League Cups finals under the arch while Lionel Messi and co. won the Champions League there in 2011.

The other 15 clubs in the 2016 International Champions Cup are Premier League champions Leicester City, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Celtic, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Melbourne Victory.

The tournament will run from 23 July – 13 August and matches will be contested across the globe.
