Rebekah Bass’ last-minute winner ensured Middlesbrough kept the pressure on FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division leaders Blackburn Rovers with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Derby County.

With Rovers in cup action, Boro had the chance to cut their lead to just three points, though they had to twice fight back from a goal down before eventually claiming the spoils.

Emily Scarr was the first to equalise, while Jess Havelock made it 2-2 in the second half after a strong start from the visitors.

And it seemed as though County would hold on for at least a draw, only for Bass to be in the right place at the right time for a fifth league victory of the campaign.

Elsewhere Bradford City enjoyed yet another goalfest as Nottingham Forest were the unfortunate recipients of a rampant afternoon, courtesy of a 6-0 scoreline at Eccleshill United.

Having seen off Crewe by the same margin in cup action last week, City started on the front foot once again as Charlotte Stuart opened the scoring in the first half.

Laura Elford was on hand for two, while Hannah Campbell added a double of her own for Bradford’s 16th goal in their past three games in all competitions.

Elsewhere, Leicester City picked up their fourth victory of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Stoke City.

Sophie Domingo opened the scoring for the visitors, but Kelsey Richardson made sure honours were even by the break with a Stoke equaliser.

But a well-worked free-kick proved decisive for Leicester, taking all three points just ten minutes from time.

League leaders Blackburn Rovers were in FA WPL Cup action this week, defeating Newcastle United 1-0, while West Bromwich Albion needed extra time to get past Fylde 2-1 in the same competition.

There was just one game of league action in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, with Sara Sinclair and Lily Mellors giving C&K Basildon the points against Swindon Town, 2-0.

Gemma Bryan and Roschelle Shakes were Crystal Palace’s FA WPL Cup heroes, defeating AFC Wimbledon, while Tottenham Hotspur got the better of Enfield Ladies 5-1.

Coventry eased past Denham United 3-0, while it was much closer as Portsmouth edged out Cambridge United 3-2 in a thriller on the south coast.

And there was also FA WPL Plate action this weekend, with Queens Park Rangers victorious by the seaside, beating Lowestoft Town 4-2.
