England striker Ellen White admits she has an "incredible" feeling ahead of their World Cup semi-final with Japan.

The Notts County star is expected to be involved against the current world champions in Edmonton, as the two nations battle it out for a place in Sunday’s Final against USA.

And White says the whole squad cannot wait for the game to come around following the quarter final victory against host nation Canada at the weekend.

"It's the biggest game of all of our careers," she told FATV.

"It's a tremendous feeling knowing that we'll be playing against the world champions in a semi-final and potentially making more history for England Women's football.

"It's exciting and everyone's buzzing - we just can't wait."

The success of Mark Sampson’s side so far has seen World Cup fever take hold in England and White has been pleased to hear of the reaction back home.

After setting off for Canada almost a month ago, it has been a long trip for the group, but one which they want to make the most of and help inspire more young players to get involved in the game.

"It's incredible [to inspire a nation], from the first moment we got together the thing that we wanted to do was inspire a nation and inspire kids to play football, both boys and girls, and hopefully we're doing that," she added.

"We want to make the whole of England really proud and we're excited."

Japan will prove to be England’s hardest test yet though, after winning all of their games in the competition so far in a bid to retain their title.

But the Lionesses have good memories of this fixture, having been the only team to beat Japan in Germany 2011 and then drawing 1-1 with them in a 2013 friendly in Burton.

"Who better to face than Japan?" asked the 26-year-old.

"You've got to beat the best to be the best, so to beat them and potentially face the USA back in Vancouver, who wouldn't want to?"

"We've got momentum and beating Canada was a big boost for us, so we'd all love to go back to Vancouver and that incredible stadium for the Final.

"But first and foremost, we've got to beat Japan in Edmonton in front of a decent crowd, who will hopefully support us."
