The on-loan Chelsea star has been hampered by an ankle injury in recent weeks, but with Boro just one result away from the Championship play-off final, his complaint has been well managed.
And after playing in last week’s 2-1 first-leg win over Brentford at Griffin Park, he is now hoping to be fit for the return fixture at the Riverside Stadium on Friday.

"I haven’t trained this week and last week, when we were away in Spain, I only trained twice," revealed the former Nottingham Forest youngster.
"I’ve been struggling with a tendon problem in my ankle so it’s touch and go at the minute and we’ll see.
"But I’m doing everything I can to be ready for Friday and I’d kick myself if I didn’t play and we missed out on getting through.
"I have to concentrate on these last few games and hope that Boro as a team go up and we can push into the Premier League."
Bamford has been a real success on Teesside this season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions and also being named as the Championship Player of the Season.
And he admits he has been pleased with the way things have gone in the north-east, after enjoying similar spells with Derby County and MK Dons in the last two campaigns.
"I’ve been delighted with it," he admitted.

"Since I first got the chance to go out on loan, there was a long debate about where I’d go and then I eventually chose Middlesbrough.
"I admit myself that it was a slow start, but once I got into the team and more used to the lads it’s turned into a really good season.
"I think for every young player of my age, they have to go out on loan.
"I know there’s an U21 league and the Europa League for the youth teams, but it’s not the same as playing men’s football, when there’s a lot more riding on it."
With a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, the 21-year-old is not being drawn on where his future lies beyond this season.
That might be with another loan next term or even challenging for a place in Jose Mourinho’s squad, but he is just concentrating on finishing this season on a high with both club and country.

"I want to play for them [Chelsea] and I’ve not given up on that yet," he added.
"There’s a pressure to not only win the Premier League but also to make it to the finals of every cup that they’re in.
"So there’s a pressure on them to go out and buy the best players in each division and I’ve got to be patient.
"After this [play-offs], I’m concentrating on the Euros with England so I think by the time I’m back from the Euros I can sit down with Chelsea and see what’s happening."
