Manager Emma Hayes dedicated Chelsea’s SSE Women’s FA Cup win to the Blues’ backroom staff.

Ji So-Yun scored the only goal of the game as the London club deservedly defeated Notts County in the historic Wembley Final.

It was Chelsea’s first-ever piece of silverware.

Hayes said: “We work hard as coaches for days like today.

“I could not ask to be part of a better organisation or to have a better staff, they have worked their socks off for three and a half years.”

Chelsea were worthy winners, having enjoyed more of the ball and created more chances, though they only had their South Korea international’s first-half goal to show for their efforts.

But it mattered not to Hayes, who congratulated her players for their landmark win.

The Blues were beaten on penalties by Birmingham City in the 2012 Final, they were knocked out of both Cup competitions at the semi-final stage last year and they were pipped to the FA WSL 1 title on the final day of the season.

Hayes added: “We have a group of players that not only commit to everything we do, but tell you what they were never going to be on the losing team today.

“I knew that from the opening whistle. I'm incredibly proud of them.

“I actually enjoyed every minute of it.”
